Forklift Pinion - The main pivot, called the king pin, is seen in the steering machinery of a forklift. The very first design was a steel pin wherein the movable steerable wheel was connected to the suspension. In view of the fact that it can freely revolve on a single axis, it limited the degrees of freedom of motion of the remainder of the front suspension. Even though a zero scrub radius is likely without an inclined king pin, it needs a deeply dished wheel in order to maintain that the king pin is at the centerline of the wheel. It is much more practical to incline the king pin and use a less dished wheel. This also provides the self-centering effect.
